HEALTHCARE PROGRAM

State Tested Nurse Aide program will be five weeks in length starting October 1, 2019 every Tuesday and Thursday with six (6) hours of class time to equal the required sixty (60) hours class as well as fifteen (15) off site clinical hours, with an expected end date of October 31, 2019. STNA program is also an approved Nurse Aide Training Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) through the Ohio Department of Health. Students will learn the basis of patient care for adult populations such as the elderly and the disabled; they will learn to respect Resident’s Rights; they will learn proper and effective communication; and students will come to understand their role in the “care team” and working alongside other professionals such as nurses and therapists.

Students can become Certified Phlebotomy Technicians in as little as six weeks. Classes will begin on November 5, 2019, every Tuesday and Thursday with six (6) hours of class time to equal the required ninety (90) hours. Students will learn about Resident’s Rights in this class as well, along with proper blood draw technique (venipuncture), medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, structure and function of the blood , blood collection “do’s” and “don’ts”, professionalism, communication, and team-building. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to sit for the national exam if they so choose.

EKG program is an exciting one! Participants of this program can become certified in this budding career field and work alongside doctors to help diagnose heart conditions and diseases. A certification in this little known area will put students ahead of the competition. The course is six weeks long, with a start date of January 7, 2020 with six (6) hours of class time on Tuesdays and Thursday; to equal a total of fifty (50) required hours with an expected end date of February 6, 2020 . Students will learn how to coordinate, plan, and deliver patient care by performing electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG) and stress testing. Professionalism and communication techniques are at the core of all of our programs; students will also learn the “in’s” and “out’s” of the heart, EKG readings, medical ethics, and legal aspects of patient contact. The ASPT-Electrocardiograph Technician exam and other National Certification exams are options after completion.

Students who become certified in all three career fields can sit for the Patient Care Technician (PCT) exam to become certified as multi-skilled technicians! What is a Patient Care Technician? A Patient Care Technician assists nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals. They perform the duties of an STNA but are also trained in the skills of basic medical duties, such as taking EKG readings and performing venipuncture (Phlebotomy). PCT Pathway gets students ahead of the game! Participants of this program will become certified in all three of our core programs to become more marketable in the healthcare industry. Students who are interested in the PCT Pathway can start any class that they’d like first. There is a variety of combinations that students can take based on their schedules, interests, and needs. Students can complete the pathway between six and 14 weeks. It’s up to them! Students will learn all the essentials previously mentioned for patient care, venipuncture and heart rhythm interpretation and monitoring, legal issues, and effective communication. Upon completion, students will be eligible to start work and sit for the PCT National Certification if they so choose. This will allow them to transfer their credentials across the country!
